ABOUT SUZANNE VEGA

Widely regarded as one of the most important songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a key figure in the folk revival movement of the early 1980s. Accompanied by her acoustic guitar, Vega sang her own contemporary folk or neo-folk songs in the clubs of Greenwich Village. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed debut album in 1985, she has sold out concerts in many of the world's most famous concert halls. Known for her emotional performances, Vega's distinctive, "clear, unwavering voice" (Rolling Stone) has been described as follows: The Washington Post described her as "cool, dry and almost whispery, as if sandpapered," and NPR Music emphasized that she has created "vibrant and innovative music" over the course of her decades-long career. Vega, who considers herself a master storyteller and "looks at the world with a clinical, poetic eye" (New York Times), focuses most of her songs on city life, ordinary people and everyday themes. Her remarkably concise and understated music is instantly recognizable - as unmistakable and profound as when her voice was first heard on the radio over 40 years ago.
