Experience the Imperial Gala Concert at Vienna's Palais Auersperg
Travel back to imperial Vienna with the Imperial Gala Concert and experience a true "best of concert" with the best pieces by Mozart, the waltz king Johann Strauss, Vivaldi and many more in the historic Palais Auersperg.
This baroque jewel in the heart of the city was once the stage for legendary composers such as Mozart and Strauss, and it is the only place where this special concert series takes place. The event offers an overall experience that combines musical art with optional fine dining in a stunning, centuries-old setting.
The concert and its program
The Imperial Gala Concert presents a "best-of" program of classical music that includes timeless masterpieces from the golden age of Viennese music. The program is based on the works of iconic composers who have a direct connection to Palais Auersperg:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: listen to pieces such as "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" and the famous aria of the "Queen of the Night" from the opera The Magic Flute. Mozart conducted the Viennese premiere of his opera Idomeneo at Palais Auersperg in 1786.
Johann Strauss (son): The "Waltz King", who regularly performed at Palais Auersperg himself, is celebrated in the Imperial Gala Concert with lively waltzes, polkas and marches, such as "On the Beautiful Blue Danube", "Imperial Waltz" the "Radetzky March" and many more.
Antonio Vivaldi: The program includes excerpts from the baroque master's most famous work, The Four Seasons.
Other masters: The program is rounded off with musical highlights by composers such as Johann Pachelbel and Franz Lehár as well as many other representatives of classical music, making the concert a unique musical journey through time.
The performance lasts around 90 minutes and includes a 15-minute intermission. It is accompanied by a charming, humorous and knowledgeable English-speaking presenter. In addition to the orchestra, internationally acclaimed sopranos, pianists and the Vienna Royal Ballet perform exclusive choreographies to the music.
The orchestra: a hand-picked ensemble of soloists
The masterpieces are performed by the soloists of the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, a carefully selected ensemble representing Vienna's musical elite. With their virtuosity, the unmistakable "Viennese sound" and their lively interpretation, they bring the spirit of Viennese classical music to life. Their exclusive line-up, which only performs at Palais Auersperg, makes every concert an extraordinary experience.
