Concept & choreography: Thomas Lempertz, Friedemann Vogel & Yonggeol Kim - Composition & live music: Alisa Scetinina
With Friedemann Vogel, internationally acclaimed star soloist of the Stuttgart Ballet and one of the outstanding personalities of contemporary dance, an extraordinary double bill can be experienced at the Salzburg Landestheater: Under the motto "Salzburg Ballet meets Friedemann Vogel", two choreographic works meet that locate the human being in the field of tension between body, consciousness and time.
In "Die Seele am Faden", Friedemann Vogel and Thomas Lempertz devote themselves to Heinrich von Kleist's essay "Über das Marionettentheater". The performance examines questions of grace, control and freedom and turns the body itself into a vehicle for philosophical reflection. Between weightlessness and grounding, technical precision and emotional openness, an intensive dialog about the truthfulness of dance is created.
The second part of the evening is Maurice Ravel's "Boléro" in a choreography by Yonggeol Kim, danced by the Salzburg Ballet. The iconic music becomes a symbol of human existence: repetition, time and the conscious and unconscious structure a ritual event in which a soloist in the center acts as a mediating figure and the ensemble follows the constant rhythm of time - and resists it at the same time. Two works, two perspectives - linked by the question of the human being in motion and the expressive power of dance.
