The St. Stephen’s Basilica is one of the most beautiful neo-classical buildings of Budapest. This is the most important church in Hungary, one of the most significant tourist attractions and the third highest building in Hungary.
There are two reasons why this ballet, whose first version dates back to the eve of the French Revolution, is a unique one. First of all, it is one of the oldest stories that is still danced today, and since its world premiere it has been successfully staged by many different choreographers, with the 1960 version by the masterful Englishman Sir Frederick Ashton being one of the most outstanding examples.
