The Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino is a true multi-talent. He wows audiences with his virtuoso skills on the world's major concert stages, has a degree in engineering, composes, arranges and is also a YouTube star with 1.3 million followers under the name "Cateen". Over 176 million people have already clicked on his videos, which means that the experimental artist also reaches an audience that otherwise has nothing to do with classical music. His participation in the legendary Chopin Competition 2021 received more media coverage than ever before in the history of the competition. Hayato Sumino now makes his festival debut at Stromwerk with works by Bach and Chopin, his own compositions and his magnificent arrangements of Gershwin's "An American in Paris" and Ravel's "Boléro" (on two pianos!).
