Under the dome of Dresden's Frauenkirche, the audience can expect a concert evening of beguiling tonal beauty when soprano Nuria Rial and the ensemble Les Cornets Noirs embark on a sonic journey to 17th century Italy. The exceptional Catalan singer, who is one of the great and acclaimed voices of Baroque music, has a slender, radiant tone, a softly vibrating timbre and a fascinating expressiveness. The purest intonation, lightness, elegance and vitality are in turn the outstanding characteristics of Les Cornets Noirs. The ensemble, which takes its name from the tines traditionally wrapped in black leather in the Alpine region, is causing a sensation with its interpretations of early Italian and German baroque music. The fact that the musicians and Nuria Rial have been working together for many years is audible in every note. The way in which the bell-clear soprano combines with the brilliant playing of Les Cornets Noirs and brings the music of Monteverdi or Palestrina into the present day is simply an experience not to be missed.
