The Young Music Podium is a European orchestra that revives the historical musical connections between Dresden and Venice. Founded in 1999, every two years it forms an ensemble of 15 to 22-year-old students who work together on a concert program during a week-long baroque workshop in Italy. The current project is dedicated to concerti grossi, solo concertos, symphonies, arias and overtures from the Venetian and German repertoire of the early 18th century - with works by Vivaldi, Pisendel, Fasch, Handel and Quantz, mainly from the archive of the Saxon State Library. The young violin virtuoso and baroque specialist Gabriele Pro will be the musical director. The soprano Benedetta Zanotto will also be performing at the Palais im Großen Garten. Originally selected as a violinist for the Young Music Podium, she turned to baroque singing and now performs as a soloist - an impressive example of how this project has a lasting impact on the artistic development of young musicians and combines historical traditions with fresh talent.
