The ballet Carmen by Swedish star choreographer Johan Inger fits seamlessly into the tradition of great Carmen interpretations from John Cranko to Mats Ek and Carlos Acosta. From the perspective of a child, Johan Inger tells the love tragedy of Carmen, Don José and the Torero in gripping, clear images full of passion, jealousy, revenge and hatred. Johan Inger created Carmen in 2015 for the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid to music by Georges Bizet, Rodion Schtschedrin and new compositions by Spaniard Marc Álvarez. In 2016, the choreographer received the Prix Benois de la Danse in Moscow, the "Oscar" of the ballet world, for his first full-length ballet.
