Das Grosse Silvesterkonzert - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Das Grosse Silvesterkonzert

With the "Petersburg Sleigh Ride", the program of the original New Year's Eve Concert of the Salzburg State Theater with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg in the Großes Festspielhaus forms an artistic link between Russia and Austria.

Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's first movement of his symphony "Winterträume" opens the concert, before devoting himself to other waltzes from the "Nutcracker" and Dmitri Shostakovich. The "Petersburg Sleigh Ride" marks the transition to the Austrian part of the program, which includes, among others, a waltz by Johann Strauss, which was addressed to the St. Petersburg ladies, as well as the polka "Winter Lust".

As guest soloist and composer, the only 14-year-old Alma Deutscher will enrich the program. As part of the concert her "siren waltz" will receive its Salzburg premiere.

Leslie Suganandarajah conducts the Mozarteum Orchestra and introduces himself in his new role as Music Director at the Salzburg Landestheater.
