Rigoletto - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Rigoletto is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. The première took place on March 11, 1851 in the La Fenice theater in Venice.
It's an intense drama full of passion, betrayal, filial love and revenge. In the tragedy Rigoletto, the main theme revolves around the “curse”, which leads to a tragic fall of the main character: “The whole subject is in this curse, which also becomes moral” (G. Verdi).
The first act of the opera opens in the Tiepolo Hall and the wonderful eighteenth-century costumes by Antony Knight are masterfully perfect with the splendid baroque decor of the palace.
The story of Rigoletto unfolds in the various halls of the palace and the choice to use candles for lighting creates lighting effects, like Caravaggio's, which increases the dramatic power of the opera.
