CONTENT
The inspirational power of William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream goes through all genres: among others, Henry Purcell, Ambroise Thomas, Carl Maria von Weber and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy produced differently designed Midsummer Night's music, and visual artists, choreographers and filmmakers were inspired by the multifaceted material. In 1960, Benjamin Britten released A Midsummer Night's Dream, one of the most famous opera versions: an amusing, easy, poetic and psychological masterpiece, one of his most-performed music theater works. After A Midsummer Night's Dream first sounded in the Haus am Ring in 1962, the opera is now being re-released after more than half a century.
