I Virtuosi dell’opera di Roma: La Traviata

The orchestra of the Virtuosi dell’Opera di Roma perform the famous and moving opera by Giuseppe Verdi in costumes and scenes.

The opera tells of the impossible love destined to end in tragedy between Violetta, a famous courtesan and Alfredo, a young man from a good family in Paris in the mid-nineteenth century.

Act I. Paris mid-nineteenth century The famous courtesan Violetta Valéry, whose health is already badly affected, has a big party in her salon. A nobleman, Gastone, introduces his friend Alfredo to the lady of the house, who honestly admires her. The attention Violetta shows for the new acquaintance does not escape her current lover Duphol. While Violetta and Alfredo are dancing, the young man declares his love for her and Violetta gives him a camellia: she will only see Alfredo again when she has withered. Violetta fell in love for the first time.

Act II. Alfredo and Violetta Valéry now live happily in a country house. Maid Annina learns that Violetta sells her jewelry because she is out of money and rushes to Paris to take care of it. Violetta, who was not invited to a party at Flora, receives an unexpected visit from Alfredo's father, Giorgio Germont, who accuses her of plunging the son into misery. Violetta replies that Alfredo never asked for anything, but Giorgio doesn't give up his plan to separate Alfredo and Violetta. She does what you think is best for her lover and leaves Alfredo, who is seized with jealousy. Violetta appears again at a party accompanied by Duphol, who wants to challenge young Germont to a duel; Violetta begs him to leave the house; he says he only leaves if she follows him. La Mädchen now admits that she swore to Duphol not to see him again, so as not to tell Alfredo about the conversation she had with his father. Alfredo is outraged and treats her like a prostitute. George appears who reprimands him for this behavior, but does not reveal the truth to him.

Act III. Violetta's health has deteriorated significantly. She can no longer get up from the bed. A letter from Germont arrives: he finally decided to explain everything to his son. Alfredo is moved and comes. Violetta is incredibly happy, but is afraid of not seeing his arrival. But finally Alfredo and his father, who deeply regrets everything, appear at their bed. The tuberculosis takes Violetta in front of them in a climate of stinging pain, which is soothed by the tenderness and purity of the emotions.
