A complicated network of intrigues, a jealous princess, a poisoned violet bouquet, and a gifted artist whose death is surrounded by grim legends: nothing less transforms Eugène Scribe into his play about Adrienne Lecouvreur, the most important actress of the early eighteenth century. Fifty years later, Francesco Cilea used his dramatic study of the wicked, artistic Ancien Régime to create his most famous opera ADRIANA LECOUVREUR. Adriana and her rival, the jealous Princess Bouillon, quarrel over the love of Count Maurizio, the historic Count Moritz of Saxony, in the breathtakingly intricate plot of intrigue. Although critics complained already at the premiere in 1902 the unlikely Verismo standards end of the actress, which brings a poisoned bouquet of flowers to the track. But not least the lyrical, virtuoso vocal parts make the piece to an undisputed classic of operatic literature. Above all, the title role of the Adriana is considered a masterpiece of every great soprano.

Anna Netrebko's touching interpretation of Adriana is on the great stages of the world from Vienna to New York legend. At the side of her husband Yusif Eyvazov as Count Maurizio, she now presents herself at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in one of her parade roles. As jealous Princess Bouillon, Clémentine Margaine returns to the house on Bismarckstrasse with a bunch of violets in her luggage. Michelangelo Mazza conducts the concert evening on the podium of the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
