Den Konflikt zwischen Kreon und Antigone entwickelt er zu einem heutigen Diskurs über Humanismus und politische Verantwortung. Dem Chor kommt dabei – als beobachtender Kommentator und Spiegel einer gleichgültigen Gegenwartsgesellschaft – eine zentrale Rolle zu.
